Empowering young people with additional needs with short-stay living experiences at Lilac House

Our What Next? programme in partnership with The Big Lottery Fund Northern Ireland offers young people living with additional needs access to vital Independent Living skills training.

A key focus of the programme offers young people between 19 and 25-years-old a chance to experience short-term stays at our modern and fully accessible centre Lilac House (Linked Independent Living and Advice Centre) in the heart of South Belfast.

This week at What Next? programme participants got a chance to take part in a multi-sensory activity session helping develop skills in sensory integration. Multi-sensory activities provide a variety of sensory stimulation for young people with additional needs.

At Autonomie, we actively encourage young people who take part in our programmes to become volunteers.

We offer structured opportunities for young people to volunteer and mentor their peers, volunteer on our Youth Forum, as well as opportunities to help lead activities programmes planning and delivery.
