SAIL – Building Skills for Independent, Confident Lives

The SAIL (Social and Independent Living) programme helps young people with physical disabilities and allied additional needs build confidence, practical life skills, and social connectedness as they transition into adulthood. Supported by The National Lottery Community Fund NI, SAIL provides interactive learning and real-world experiences that empower participants to live fuller, more independent lives.

Who SAIL Is For

SAIL is designed for young people aged 16–30+ with physical disabilities and allied additional needs who want to grow their independence, self-belief, and confidence within their own communities.

We create a supportive environment where participants can learn at their own pace, build friendships, and develop the skills they need for a more independent future.

Where SAIL Takes Place

SAIL (Social and Independent Living) is delivered from Lilac House, Autonomie's base in South Belfast. While the programme takes place in one central location, we welcome young people with disabilities from Belfast and across Northern Ireland.

Through a person-centred approach, SAIL empowers participants to build confidence, strengthen social connections, and develop the practical independent living skills needed to navigate adult life with greater choice and control. All within a supportive and inclusive environment.
